Lo Studio Guenzani è lieto di presentare una mostra con delle nuove opere di Luisa Lambri.
Concentrandosi principalmente sulla fotografia, il lavoro di Lambri riguarda un ampio spettro di temi che ruotano attorno alla condizione umana e alle sue relazioni con lo spazio, la storia della fotografia astratta, il femminismo, e il modernismo.
Lambri si focalizza principalmente sull’architettura residenziale, ma invece di rappresentare gli edifici nella loro completezza (realizzati da architetti come Alvar Aalto, Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Richard Neutra, Oscar Niemeyer, Luis Barragan, Frank Lloyd Wright, John Lautner, Rudolph Schindler e Giuseppe Terragni), l’artista si concentra su dettagli, e in particolare finestre, fonti di luce, armadi o porte. Luisa Lambri ha affermato che le sue composizioni astratte e poetiche non rappresentano lo spazio che lei fotografa, ma piuttosto l’esperienza di quegli spazi da un punto di vista reale e ideologico.
Formalmente le opere si presentano come delle semplici composizioni astratte che a volte includono elementi organici che dialogano con le forme piu’ rigide. Le sue fotografie minimali fanno riferimento alla geometria astratta dei dipinti dell’inizio del Ventesimo secolo spesso evocando situazioni di trascendenza e spiritualità.
Il suo lavoro più recente si è ispirato al movimento Light and Space del Sud della California, al Neo Concretismo brasiliano e al Minimalismo, tutti punti di riferimento frequenti nel suo lavoro. Recentemente Luisa Lambri ha fotografato le opere di alcuni artisti tra cui Lygia Clark e Donald Judd. Le fotografie dei “Sun Tunnels” di Nancy Holt nel deserto dello Utah, che saranno mostrate per la prima volta in occasione di questa mostra, fanno parte di questa serie. In mostra allo Studio Guenzani sarà esposta anche una fotografia realizzata all’Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum di Boston, che pur risultando molto diversa dal lavoro di Holt, di fatto condivide lo stesso tipo di approccio e uso dello spazio come riflesso dell’identità.
Studio Guenzani is pleased to present an exhibition of new photographs by Luisa Lambri.
Focusing primarily on photography, Lambri’s work is characterized by an engagement with a broad spectrum of subjects revolving around the human condition and its relationship to space.
She mostly concentrates on domestic architecture, but instead of representing entire houses (by architects such as Alvar Aalto, Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Richard Neutra, Oscar Niemeyer, Luis Barragan, Frank Lloyd Wright, John Lautner, Rudolph Schindler and Giuseppe Terragni among others), the artist focuses on details, particularly windows, often light, closets or doors. Lambri has stated that her highly poetic abstractions do not represent the actual physical spaces she is photographing but rather introduce the experience of being in the spaces and being defined and reflected by both the physical but also the ideological weight of the structures.
Formally the works present themselves as lyrical and understated abstract compositions of lines, grids, which occasionally allow organic material such a plants or flowers to take over the rigid forms. The minimal photographs reference abstract geometric painting from the early 20th century to evoke situations of transcendence and spirituality.
Her recent work has been informed by The Light and Space movement of Southern California, Brazilian Neo-Concrete art as well as Minimalism, which are also frequent references. Recently Lambri photographed the work of Donald Judd and Lygia Clark among others. Her photographs of Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels in the Utah desert, which will be shown for the first time on this occasion, are part of this ongoing series.
In the exhibition at Studio Guenzani there will also be a photograph of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, which shares a similar approach to and use of space as a reflection of one’s identity.
